About Dalyan

Just about 10 minutes walk from our private villa Dalyan, you will find an unspoilt resort situated on a winding river lined with lovely restaurants and bars. It is between Marmaris and Fetiye on the Southwest coast of Turkey only 20 minutes drive from Dalaman airport. By the way, from March 2020 you no longer need a visa for Turkey if you are from UK, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland. Across the river from town is the ancient ruined city of Kaunos, with Lycian rock tombs and the remains of a theatre. Riverboats take you to Iztuzu beach, home to protected Loggerhead turtle nesting grounds (top 10 Guardian beaches in Turkey). To the northwest of Dalyan is the village of Sultaniye where you will find Lake Köyceğiz and the thermal mudbaths. Activities available include:

Local taxi boat to the famous Iztuzu Beach.

Hire a private boat and go crab fishing or to the mud baths and have your lunch cooked for you. There are so many boats and you can do a good deal.

Visit the Saturday Aegean market in Dalyan (map) or any of the others in local area and buy your ‘genuine fakes’!

Visit the turtle sanctuary at the other end of the beach (get to this on the bus rather than the boat)

Sit opposite the 2,500 year old Dalyan rock tombs which are floodlit at night

Hire a car, bikes, mobility scooter or quad bikes (can be delivered to the villa and collected once you are finished).
